Royal Manor Elementary School Counselor
It is my pleasure to be the school counselor at Royal Manor Elementary. I started as a 4th grade intern at Chapelfield Elementary as a senior in college. Then, I taught 6th grade at Middle School West for 13 years. After that, I have had the privilege of being an elementary school counselor. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Capital University and my Master's Degree in School Counseling through The University of Dayton. I am a mom of 5 boys . I reside with my husband and my boys in the Blacklick area. I am very proud to live in the Gahanna community where we put students first and build leaders for the future.
Our Elementary Guidance Program is a preventative program that focuses on life skills that help the students to be skilled problem solvers, learners, and leaders. I conduct classroom guidance lessons, participate in classroom meetings and activities, offer small groups and individual counseling sessions. Our classroom lessons focus on social skills, emotional management with the Zones of Regulation, kindness/empathy, problem solving/conflict resolution, peer pressure/bullying prevention strategies, safety strategies, and career exploration.
An important component of my job is working with parents to build home/school relationships. As we all know, being a parent is the toughest, but most important job we will ever have. I have many resources that I would be glad to share with you. I am also available to meet with parents to help in anyway that I can.
Please reach out to me at 614-269-4751 or email me at bakerm@gjps.org to let me know how I can best help you and your child. I look forward to partnering with you and your child through his/her educational journey.
